How MYP Quest works
MYP Quest is a free practice app for students in the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP 1–5, roughly ages 11–16), made for international schools in the Netherlands. It complements lessons; it does not replace them.
What’s inside
- 160 original practice questions across all 8 MYP subject groups and all 5 years, each with hints, a step-by-step solution and the MYP criterion (A–D) it practises.
- Question types: multiple choice, numeric answers (with units), short answers, ordering a method or timeline, and open written answers.
- Quest Buddy, an AI tutor that guides students with questions and hints instead of giving answers away.
- AI-made extra questions on request, clearly labelled “AI-made”.
- Motivation through XP, levels, daily streaks and badges.
Not affiliated with the IB
All questions are written for this app. They are not IB past papers or IB assessment material. MYP Quest is not affiliated with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization. Criterion names follow the published MYP subject frameworks.
Privacy for children
- No accounts, no sign-up, no email. Students choose a nickname and an emoji avatar; we tell them not to use their real name.
- Progress stays on the device. XP, badges and answers are stored in the browser (localStorage) and never sent to our servers. “Reset my progress” deletes them.
- AI features send only the current question and what the student types to our AI provider (Anthropic), after automatically removing email addresses, phone numbers and postcodes. Nothing is stored by us.
- No tracking, no ads, no analytics cookies.
AI safety
- Quest Buddy only helps with the current question and gives hints, not final answers (unless the solution has already been shown).
- It stays on schoolwork, never asks for personal information, and keeps language age-appropriate.
- If a student mentions feeling unsafe, bullying or self-harm, it responds kindly and points them to a trusted adult and to De Kindertelefoon (0800-0432, free).
- AI can make mistakes. AI-made questions are labelled, and students are encouraged to check with their teacher.
